Two for One
For 35 years, Whatcom Love INC has been committed to the mission of mobilizing the church by helping and building relationships with those in need. Those partnering with Love INC have shared the love of Jesus through budget coaching, furniture delivery, visits, and prayer to name a few. How amazing would it be to double the return on your investment for no additional effort? God is providing that opportunity for the Love INC supporters.
Three years ago, We Care came under the umbrella of Whatcom Love INC and has since become vital in how we help. Through We Care, a thrift store ministry sustained by consignment store donations and dedicated volunteers, we provide low-cost and free items to hundreds of families each month. We Care embodies Love INC’s mission by meeting basic needs while fostering connections, building relationships, offering prayer, and sharing our faith.
As Love INC’s Board has seen God’s obvious activity and blessing at We Care, they have prayerfully decided it would better serve our community to merge Whatcom Love INC and We Care under the name “We Care of Whatcom County.” We are excited to announce that under our new name, the heart and history of Whatcom Love INC will live on. This merger is a natural progression that strengthens our mission to follow Jesus and serve our community even more effectively.
FAQ and Good News:
What does this mean for Love INC? The consideration of closing Love INC has been on the table for several years as we’ve struggled to meet the requirements of being a Love INC affiliate. We value and appreciate all that we’ve gained from the leadership at Love INC National. They have graciously blessed and released us. As we move forward, the relational ministry principles we value will live on. The GOOD NEWS is that two organizations who have undergone seasons of scarcity have now been pruned, grafted together, and are bearing fruit.
Will we offer the same ministries? Yes! We will continue to meet needs relationally, by providing clothing, furniture, household necessities, pantry items, groceries, and holiday toys. We will continue to mobilize volunteers and partner with churches. The GOOD NEWS is that We Care is open five days a week, shortening the wait for help. It will be easier for volunteers to participate because we have daytime, evening and weekend hours.
Will the leadership change? Our Executive Director and Board are staying the same. The GOOD NEWS is our leadership is all in to follow the lead of Jesus to help our neighbors in need.
How will this affect donors and church partners? Your continued support is vital, and under ‘We Care of Whatcom County,’ every contribution will help meet needs. The only change is that you can now support us by writing checks to We Care of Whatcom County and mailing them to PO Box 28194, Bellingham 98227. The GOOD NEWS is that donor dollars will be used more effectively and efficiently.
How will people contact We Care of Whatcom County? Over the next few months, you’ll begin to see changes in the website and social media which will direct people to We Care. Mail and emails will be forwarded. The GOOD NEWS is that you can find us in person at 1215 Commercial Street Tuesday through Saturday.
